Virginia State University has announced that effective Monday, January 31, 2022, students will return to face-to-face instruction on campus.
Earlier this month, VSU announced that in an effort to ensure the health and safety of the University population, all classes would convert to a virtual or hyflex instruction for the first two weeks of the semester. VSU Administrators have carefully reviewed and assessed campus conditions, and are excited to welcome students back to campus for in-person and on-campus classes.
“The past two weeks of virtual learning allowed us an opportunity to assess data and campus conditions,” said Dr. Donald E. Palm, Provost and Senior Vice President. “We have determined that our mitigation strategies which include requiring student COVID entry testing and full vaccination have worked effectively to minimize the health risks to our Trojan family.”
In addition, effective Saturday, January 29, 2022, VSU will resume allowing spectators to attend athletic events at the VSU Multipurpose Center. As a safety precaution, the University restricted spectators at home basketball games for two weeks. In our efforts to promote social distancing, basketball game attendance is now limited to 2500, which is less than half of the venue capacity. Tickets will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
