According to a recent research study, 2023 will be the year of reimagining travel, showing that 73% of people are more optimistic about travel than they were in 2022. When it comes to the types of trips travelers are looking to take, the research found the “why” is shifting.
Topping the list of the popular type of vacations are: Nostalgic getaways (88% of respondents agreeing).
What’s a nostalgic getaway?
A nostalgic getaway is a trip that takes you back to a particular time or place in your life. This can be a place you have been to before or one that takes you back to your childhood.
While any trip can be considered a nostalgic getaway, certain destinations are more likely to take you back in time than others. These places have retained their original charm, culture, and architecture and have yet to be overly modernized.
These getaways are often associated with happiness and positive memories and may make you feel like a kid again.
How about visiting an indoor theme park, or taking a cross country road trip, or eating at your favorite childhood restaurant? Our family grew up near Fredericksburg, Virginia. A Sunday afternoon trip to Carl’s ice cream shop was a real treat. In fact, we still visit the shop at least once a year!
