University of Richmond featured in Fiske Guide’s 2023 Edition
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND ? The Fiske Guide to Colleges, a leading college guidebook, has selected the University of Richmond for its 2023 edition. The Guide highlights faculty mentorship, stellar career services, well-being, and more.
Each year, Fiske profiles more than 300 of the “best and most interesting” colleges in the U.S., Canada, and the UK for college-bound students and their parents. The guide includes information about academic programs and includes quotes from students.
The latest guide notes the University of Richmond “offers students a preprofessional climate rooted in the liberal arts” and “business and a unique school for leadership studies are featured offerings, along with a strong global emphasis.”
The guide highlighted the following:
Students describe the academic climate as intense but collaborative. Richmond students enjoy
close relationships with professors and the absence of teaching assistants in the classroom.
Students are enthusiastic about the Office of Alumni and Career Service’s career-related programs, such as Spider Road Trips, which take students to major cities to learn about various industries and network for jobs and internships.
The Student Center for Equity and Inclusion works to support multicultural, LGBTQ, and first-generation students and fosters inclusion on campus.
Students and faculty have partnered to research and document the University’s complex history, and plans are in the works to memorialize a burial ground of enslaved people recently rediscovered on the campus.
The Well-Being Center, housing student health and counseling services, an organic café, mind-body studio, and meditation and yoga rooms, opened in 2020.
“From first-of-their-kind academic programs to innovative out-of-classroom learning and networking opportunities, Richmond is working hard to push its vision of preprofessional education shaped by commitments to the liberal arts, leadership, and community involvement,” the guide says.
