In recent weeks it has become increasingly clear that there is a distinct difference between what male identifying people and people who have a womb have the right to decide for themselves and what happens to their bodies. We are now in a post Roe v. Wade period in the United States, and we are steadily moving towards a “states’ rights” culture. Which is the same culture that tore the Union apart and separated the northern states from the southern states igniting the Civil War. History is so important as is legal precedent. History allows for reflection, interrogation, and a certain reckoning with our past to understand our present and work towards making our future better.
Precedent is a legal principle, created by a court decision, which provides an example or authority for judges deciding similar issues at a later point in time. It is standard within the practice of jurisprudence. With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the SCOTUS completely ignored precedent while simultaneously revoking the civil rights that people with wombs have had for over 50 years in this country. In deciding to allow individual states to determine what should be done in a case wherein a person is terminating an unwanted pregnancy, people without wombs who are unable to conceive or to birth children have taken it upon themselves to take the decision-making power away from those who can become pregnant. Because of this historic revocation of civil rights, these Justices and governing bodies have made it impossible in many places for the people with wombs to make the decision to have an abortion and terminate the pregnancy for themselves.
Choice is the right of ALL human beings regardless of their sexual identity or ability to bear children. Without Choice as a freedom, and an inalienable right, the personhood and bodily autonomy of an individual is basically null and void.
No one can force you to donate blood, or organs even though there are many people dying daily who might be saved. They cannot harvest your organs even after your death without your explicit written consent. You cannot be forced to get a vaccine, or a booster shot even though millions of people have died, been hospitalized, and are suffering life-long health consequences because of a pandemic virus when there are vaccines that have been proven to keep people from dying and out of the hospital.
Denying people who can get pregnant the right to reproductive health care including abortion care is denying them the right to bodily autonomy by forcing them to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term. Right now, in many states, people who have wombs and can be pregnant have less bodily autonomy than a corpse. No matter what your religious or political beliefs are, there should be NO question about who should be more protected when it comes to the LIFE, health, and well-being of a ten-year-old impregnated little girl who has been raped, and the “rights” of an UNBORN fetus. The existence of an UNBORN fetus does not outweigh the LIFE of a ten-year-old girl. In a civil and human society, that should be the law of the land.
These activist judges and legislators are completely ignorant of how the bodies of people with wombs work. These people should NOT be determining or imposing an arbitrary time of 6 weeks for a person to decide whether a pregnancy should or can be carried forward or terminated due to circumstances. These decisions can only be made by the one who is pregnant and those within that person’s family circle, medical doctors, and/or spiritual advisors. The imposition of any “states’ rights” assertion or any other governmental entity to make 
such a determination for the women or persons with a womb fundamentally reduces that person’s rights, diminishes their personhood, and individual autonomy over their own body. Period. Full STOP.
Anyone who refused to get a vaccination or to get their own children vaccinated to prevent the ongoing mutation and generation of a virus that could have been brought under control by now ALL claim “my body my choice”! No one should be FORCED to carry a fetus inside of their body if they choose NOT to do so. That is something ALL free people should understand!
