Enjoying incredible cuisine when you’re on a river cruise is one of the biggest highlights of an itinerary. The only thing better? Doing it with great friends.
We wanted to share a few photos from our December river cruise trip in France. We sailed from Avignon to Lyon for seven nights. Then, we hopped on a high-speed train from Lyon to Paris and stayed in Paris for two nights. We had such a great time!
Imagine enjoying a bountiful breakfast that includes omelets made to order using cage-free eggs, freshly baked pastries and bread, fresh fruit, and cereals. Lunchtime serves up an array of fresh salads, soups, and delicious sandwiches.
Evenings offer casual elegance with various delicious entrees, including filets of salmon, beef tenderloin, and peppers expertly sautéed and grilled. Appetizers and handmade desserts are artfully presented—while delicious vegetarian, low sodium, and gluten-free choices are available.
Another dining option available on a river cruise is the specialty restaurant. The kitchen — usually hidden — becomes a part of the evening entertainment. While relaxing and having great conversations with your family, friends, or a few other travelers, watch the well-orchestrated culinary art preparations.
You’ll have the opportunity to watch the chef prepare a special, multi-course meal right in front of you. The menu is unique, making it a truly distinct gastronomic experience. Indulge in delectable dishes paired with fine wines, hand-selected just for this dinner, which is included in the price of your river cruise.
Immerse yourself in the many flavors of Europe on the Celebration of Wine River Cruise. River cruise guests can join excursions highlighting the famous sights in each port of call. Pairing the right wine with the right chocolate can be a match made in heaven! We visited Le Cha?teau de Tournon for a very special presentation and tasting with a local expert on the pairing of red wine and chocolate.
These unique itineraries offer guests a perfect blend of wine-related experiences and excursions in grand capitals and charming towns. You’ll taste local cuisine, discover how wine is made, and, of course, partake in tastings — all included in the price of the cruise.
While on the ship, you’ll enjoy wine tastings led by a wine expert. You’ll also indulge in award-winning cuisine paired with hand-selected, premium wines and champagnes.
So you haven’t been on a river cruise yet? Here’s just a taste of what you can expect to find on board…
