Good morning! I’m excited to share that RPS@Home is now live! You can access it by clicking here or by going to our homepage (www.rvaschools.net) and clicking the “Learning at Home” box (see red oval below).
A few notes to get started:
• The PK/Elementary and Middle School sections of the site are accessible this morning. The high school section (which is a bit more complicated given the nuances of acquiring credit during the closure) will be coming very soon. Thank you for your patience!
• As you’ll see in the screenshot below, on the left-hand side are three boxes in orange that provide access to tutoring support, as well as ELL and exceptional education support.
• There are also links (see bottom of screenshot) to enable students to quickly log into Clever, access FAQs about Google Classroom, view my math lessons and the Wishtree Read-Aloud, and explore other instructional resources.
Once you select a grade span (for example, PK/Elementary), you select the specific grade you want, which will take you to a page that looks like this:
Then you just click on the April 6 calendar icon to access today’s lessons. The screenshot below shows today’s ELA lesson for 5th grade. (Note: since this is a screenshot, the links won’t work if you try to click them. You’ll need to go into the actual site.)
Three final notes:
- You’ll need a computer and internet access to utilize RPS@Home, which is why we’re working around the clock to get laptops and wifi hotspots ready for distribution. I’m happy to report that they’ll begin going out later this week. I’ll have more information on this soon.
- We’re continuing to build RPS@Home as we speak, so if you jump ahead of today, you may see links that are not yet active. But they will be soon! Also, if you encounter any technical issues with the site for today’s lessons, please shoot me an email so we can fix them. Thanks!
- The Academic Office, under the leadership of Tracy Epp, and in collaboration with many of our amazing teachers, developed RPS@Home in just a couple of weeks. Please join me in thanking them for quickly creating such a wonderful resource for our students and families!
