The AWANA Program (Approved Workman Are Not Afraid) of the Zion Baptist Church (225 Byrne Street) has been blessed over the past four years to have received healthy and weekly meals from FeedMore for youth participating in the Wednesday program. During the 2019 year end closing program, which was held on May 29, Ruth Ann Caplice, Children’s Program Manager, accepted a monetary donation presented to FeedMore.
AWANA is an international, Bible-centered youth ministry program which offers weekly clubs, programs, and training for youth between the ages 2 to 18. Its goal is to joyfully and intentionally share the good news of God’s love in order to help lead young people in developing a personal faith in Jesus Christ. The closing program is a time to highlight the students’ successes via presentation of certificates, ribbons, and gifts for their hard work and accomplishments and also to acknowledge Zion’s Christian Education Ministry and AWANA leaders for their commitment and dedication. Parents and congregation members are also thanked for their ongoing support during this time.
The AWANA program operates from mid-September through May of each year. For additional information please contact Zion Baptist Church at 733-7561.
