The Honorable Ralph S. Northam, Governor, Commonwealth of Virginia was the host of the Governor’s Luncheon benefitting UNCF. He gave brief greetings.

Dominion is the first recipient of the UNCF Flame Bearer of Education Award

Pastor and First Lady, Johnnie and Clementine Fleming, of Second Baptist Church, Chester, Virginia accept the UNCF Flame Bearer of Education Award

Billy K. Cannaday Jr., a veteran educator, awarded the UNCF Flame Bearer of Education Award


Bishop Jeffery L. Reaves, Sr., Senior Pastor, Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Petersburg, VA made a fundraising appeal to the audience. He led the effort by making a personal donation of $5,000.00.

Danyelle Honore’ shared a testimony about the positive impact that the UNCF Gates Millennium Scholar award is having on her life. The scholarship has paid for her undergraduate schooling. She will graduate with the University of Virginia class of 2019. It will continue to pay for graduate school. Danyelle has been accepted to Harvard University to study for her Master’s Degree.
