Imagine getting $500 a month “no strings attached”. The mayor of Stockton, California and the Economic Security Project will give about a hundred families $500 a month for 18 months to study the economic and social impacts of giving people a basic income. With technology impacting the job market, the universal basic income experiment has been touted as Stockton’s best bet to invest in its own people.
