Lawmakers in South Carolina recently proposed a bill banning sagging pants in public. Reportedly, the bill would make it illegal for a person to wear pants below the crest of the hipbone in public exposing skin or undergarments. The offense would not be criminal, but there would be a $25 fine for the first offense and up to $75 or community service for additional offenses according to reports. Some lawmakers think the bill is necessary, because “the pants are now being worn below the knees.
