A woman whose false claim of rape sent former prep football star Brian Banks to prison earning her a $1.5 million-dollar settlement was ordered to pay a $2.6 million judgment in connection with the case.
Wannetta Gibson was a former high-school acquaintance of Banks in 2002 when she accused him of raping her at Long Beach Polytechnic High School. Banks spent five years in prison and, upon his release, was forced to register as a sex offender and wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.
What’s your take on the settlement that did not include incarceration for Ms. Gibson?
