FAMU cheerleaders secure partnership with Mielle Organics

Florida A&M University’s, Tallahassee, FL, cheerleading team has acquired a three-year partnership with Black-owned hair care brand Mielle Organics to be brand ambassadors for the hair care company.
As stated in a release, the partnership will include “product sampling, activations, as well as social media campaigns to promote both the cheerleaders and the new favorite hair products.”
“This brand is going to evolve FAMU Cheer,” said Ashlyn Boles, FAMU cheer co-captain. “It will allow us to step out of our comfort zone to say I can wear my natural hair, and I can rock my natural hair and look good while doing it.”
Two new online degrees to launch at Howard University’s CNAHS

Starting in 2024, the Howard University College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, Washington, DC, will be launching two new online degree programs, the Master of Health Administration (MHA) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs.
“These two programs are the beginning of greater healthcare initiatives to come from the College, that will address healthcare needs on a global level,” said Gina S. Brown, Ph.D., dean of CNAHS, in a release. “Howard continues to lead out academically, strategically and with excellence, not just among HBCU’s, but among the top tiered universities in the world. We continue to stand proud of the practitioners that we produce at every level.”
Georgia Congresswoman Nikema Williams introduces bill to support entrepreneurs at HBCUs

According to an article, Georgia Congresswoman Nikema Williams has introduced the Minority Entrepreneurship Grant Program Act, a bill that would establish a federal “grant program with the Small Business Administration for entrepreneurs at minority-serving institutions such as Historically Black Colleges and Universities.”
“Too often, Black and brown entrepreneurs face enormous barriers to accessing the capital needed to launch and sustain businesses. The Minority Entrepreneurship Grant Program will help to break down those barriers and ensure that the next generation of minority business owners have a fair shot at the promise of America. Investing in minority-owned businesses is also one path on the journey to close the racial wealth gap. I am proud to advance legislation to continue creating equity in entrepreneurship opportunity for everyone–no matter your ZIP Code, no matter your bank account,” stated Congresswoman Williams.

Partnership between 4tee Acres and PGA REACH to launch National Diversity Golf Program for HBCUs

According to an article, 4tee Acres and the Middle-Atlantic PGA REACH formed a partnership to increase financial literacy, STEM, and golf programming at HBCUs by launching “a signature HBCU program to provide students with access to quality golf clubs, clothes, and a variety of clinics.”
The program will “enable students to travel for golf tournaments, support recruiting efforts, and build a pipeline to being a PGA professional while learning real-world skills” and will allow “each school the ability to invite more students to participate in learning golf, building financial health, and strengthening STEM skills.”
“Expanding opportunities for HBCU students without barriers opens doors for an infinite future of young Black golfers to accomplish new heights and for HBCU golf programs to increase authority as they grow beyond expectation,” said Angel Rich-Jones, Hampton University, Hampton, VA, graduate and Bowie State University, Bowie, MD, Foundation board member. “4tee Acres is devoted to promoting equity in golf from students to the professionals and we look forward to working together to expand diversity across the industry.

HBCU grad becomes Finalist for the International Book Awards

Dr. Juan P. Chisholm, graduate of Florida State University and Florida A&M University College of Law — both located in Tallahassee, FL, is a Finalist for the 2023 International Book Awards, one of the world’s largest international book award programs, in the “Young Adult: Non-Fiction” category for his book, Mission Possible: How to Graduate from College Debt-Free.
According to an article, Chisholm, who previously wrote Investitude and How to Make Your Past, A Blessing to Your Future, is an “acclaimed business owner, teacher, investor, author, and motivational speaker.”
